ABSTRACT – “Child marriage” is a harmful socio-cultural practice, which is both the cause and the effect of the violation of the fundamental rights of children.
It is a “typically feminine” phenomenon that interests the gender equality studies. The highest rates of early marriages occur in South Asia with the 46% and in sub-Saharan Africa with the 37%. In this paper I present an analysis of the main legislations on the issues and the solutions adopted by the States to stop the phenomenon.
