DI ANTONINO MANTINEO
ABSTRACT – This article explores the connection between human development and integral ecology, drawing from Pope Francis’ teachings. From Evangelii Gaudium to Laudato Si’, Fratelli Tutti, and Laudate Deum, he consistently advocates for social and environmental transformation. He emphasizes that caring for our common home requires addressing both ecological and social justice issues, as humanity and nature are deeply interwoven. The Church’s mission is to proclaim the Gospel, particularly to the poor, who seek freedom from suffering and injustice. To do so authentically, the Church must embody humility and simplicity in its message. However, in a world marked by war and misinformation, maintaining credibility remains a challenge. Pope Francis calls on all people – not just Christians – to take responsibility for the planet’s future. He urges a renewed commitment to fraternity and ecological stewardship to create a just and sustainable world for generations to come.
